Arlene Preston Curtis, 89, of New Vienna, Ohio died 9:25 PM, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Laurels of Hillsboro. Her husband, Richard Curtis, preceded her in death May 9, 1992. They were married March 25, 1942. Mrs. Curtis was born September 17, 1921 in Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Margaret James Preston. She was a graduate of New Vienna High School.
Mrs. Curtis retired from Wells Manufacturing. She also owned and operated the 3R’s Restaurant in New Vienna. She was a member of the New Vienna Church of Christ and was a devoted wife and mother, who loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed riding her bicycle and promoting New Vienna. She was also fond of her annual trips to the Smokey Mountains.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by two sons, Richard Curtis of Lebanon, Ohio and Robert L. (Roseanna) Curtis of New Vienna, Ohio; a sister, Wilma Wills of Hartford, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Christopher (Rachael) Curtis of Waynesville, Ohio, Courtney (Oskar) Gruber of Medina, Ohio, Megan (Tim) Thompson of Lynchburg, Ohio, and Brian (Casey) Curtis of New Vienna, Ohio; five great grandchildren, Jordan Curtis, Riley Curtis, Cameron Curtis, Gabriel Gruber, and Gavin Gruber; three step-great grandchildren, Mikaela Gruber, Brianna Gruber, and Josef Gruber; and two special nieces, Joyce Breeze and Jackie Ann Fite. In addition to her husband and parents, six brothers and sisters are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the New Vienna Church of Christ, 148 West Street, New Vienna, Ohio. Burial will be in New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, February 7, 2011 at the New Vienna Church of Christ.
