Dana W. Carter, 66, of Lexington, Kentucky (formerly of Wilmington, Ohio) died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Kentucky. His wife, Peggy Laytart Carter, survives. Mr. Carter was born in Sabina, Ohio, son of the late Wilbur and Doris Carter. A veteran of the United States Marine Corp, Mr. Carter served in Vietnam and received numerous awards.
Mr. Carter retired after a career in law enforcement and security work. He was a member of the Cramer and Hanover Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Carter is survived by five children, Dana Shawn (Stephanie) Carter, Fr. Alan V. Carter, Travis Shane (Amber) Carter, William Chaes (Jill) Carter, and Chasity L. (Bill) Duncan; 12 grandchildren, Westley, Cody, Casey, Caeleb, Thomas, Porter, Mikhayla, Matthew, McKenzie, Lauren, Lilly and Kade; his mother-in-law, Louise Bell; one brother, Chris (Christy) Carter; as well as other extended family. In addition to his parents, a son, Dale Wayne, a brother, Terry Carter, and a sister, Sherril Peters, are preceded in death.
A graveside service will be held 1:30 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington, Ohio. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard.
