Darlene Mae Gibson, 78, of Clarksville, Ohio passed away peacefully 9:35 PM, Friday, February 22, 2013 after a long struggle with illness at her home surrounded by her family and in the wonderful hands of Community Care Hospice. Her husband, Joseph Gibson Sr., survives. Darlene was born January 27, 1935 in Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence and Myrtle Thomas Flint. She was married on January 30, 1954. She and her husband shared 59 wonderful years together, during which she did the things she loved most, raising her family, being a wife, and helping on the farm.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by three children, Kathy Jo (Bill Northcutt) Wallace, Joseph (Connie Bryant) Gibson Jr., and Stephanie McKeever; a brother, James R. Flint; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Paul) Mandelstein, Beth (Shawn) Myers, Michael (Pam) Gibson, Chris Gibson, Kara Gibson, Robert (Brandy) McKeever, and Steven (Amber) McKeever; 15 great grandchildren, Blake Mandelstein, Katrina Mandelstein, Makayla Mandelstein, Parker Mandelstein, Kendall Mandelstein, Shiloh Myers, Mallory Myers, Ariana Myers, Quenten Myers, Caroline Myers, Micah Gibson, Joshua Gibson, Jordan Gibson, Joseph McKeever, and Brayden McKeever; and her sisters-in-law, Jeanie Flint, Mary Botts, Velma (John) Flint, Myrtle Gibson, Lena Gibson, and Dolly Gibson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and a two sisters-in-law, Charles Flint, Donald and Virginia Flint, William Flint, Marvin Flint, and Virginia Flint; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Warren Howick; a great grandchild, Wade McKeever; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Goldie Gibson; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Gibson; three brothers-in-law, Donald Gibson, Arthur Gibson, and Frank Gibson; and special family members, Larry and Caroline Gray.
Darlene also had a very loving extended family and many friends she loved dearly, most of which she met through her many years working at Ameristop in Wilmington. She will be missed greatly by all.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Springfield Friends Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
