Deborah Lynn Reed “Debbie” Hicks, 55, of Wilmington, Ohio went to be with the Lord 1:45 PM, Monday, February 27, 2012 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Her husband, Bobby Hicks, whom she married February 15, 1974, survives. Mrs. Hicks was born September 4, 1956 in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of Bobby Reed of Olive Hill, Kentucky and the late Rhoda Doyle Cluxton. She was a 1974 graduate of East Clinton High School. She received her associate’s degree from Southern State Community College.
Mrs. Hicks was a 20-year employee of ABX Air and DHL. She was currently employed by Senior Helpers in Centerville, Ohio. She was an active member of the Living Water Worship Center in Spring Valley, Ohio where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a volunteer at Sugartree Ministries and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and father, Mrs. Hicks is survived by a son, Steven (Amber) Hicks of Wilmington, Ohio; a daughter, Tracy (Buddy Phillips) Hicks of Blanchester, Ohio; a sister, Pamela (Roy) Hansford of Lynchburg, Ohio; her grandchildren, Shanda Hall, Brandon Hall, Elijah Hicks, Andrew Hicks, Jaylee Hicks, Colston Hicks, and one grandchild due in September; her stepmother, Kay Burchett; three stepbrothers; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; as well as her church family. In addition to her mother, a son, Brandon Hicks, a brother, Michael Reed, and her stepfather, Donald Cluxton, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Jeff Burke officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home. A reception for friends and family will be held immediately after the burial at Faith Family Church, 64 Williams Road, Wilmington, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio to assist with funeral expenses.
