Ernest Victor Bartodej, 81, of Midland, Ohio died 3:17 PM, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Edna Marie Simmons Bartodej, survives. Mr. Bartodej was born May 21, 1930 in Yukon, Oklahoma, son of the late Victor and Agnes Bartodej. He served in the U.S. Army and received his bachelors degree in engineering from Oklahoma A&M.
Mr. Bartodej worked at GE for 36. He also farmed in the Midland area for 40 years. He was a member of the Martinsville United Methodist Church, the Lion’s Club and the Wilmington Senior Center. He was a 50 year member of the Western Fraternal Life Association.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bartodej is survived by a son, Victor Allen Bartodej; two daughters, Rose Marie (Carl) Scott and Patricia Lynn (Louis) Jordan; a brother, Frank (Joyce) Bartodej; a sister, Mary Bartodej; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Nick) Newberry, Brittany Jordan, Katelyn Jordan, Amber (Eric) Monske, Mikala Hatfield, and Dakota Hatfield; three great grandchildren, Anastasia Newberry, Madalynn Monske, and Isaac Newberry; a daughter-in-law, Judy (Terry) Hatfield; a son-in-law, Greg (Becky) Grant; three sisters-in-law, Maxine Simmons, Carroll Simmons, and Mary Ann Bartodej; two brothers-in-law, Todd (Barbara) Simmons and Clem (Debbie) Simmons; seven nephews, Joel Bartodej, James Bartodej, Kelly (Pete) Bartodej, Allen Bartodej, Bobby Bartodej, Bryan Simmons, and Joshua Cross; and seven nieces, Terry Forte, Kennetha Wilson, Sopinda Laveccha, Siriporn Fernandef, Kimberly Robinson, Lisa Barr, and Ashley Bayes. In addition to his parents, a son, David Wayne Bartodej, and two brothers, Robert Bartodej and George Bartodej, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Nick Litten officiating. Burial will be in Martinsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Immediately after the burial, a meal for family and friends will be held at the Martinsville United Methodist Church.
