Esther J. Salisbury, 91, of New Vienna, Ohio died 3:45 AM, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Laurels of Hillsboro. Her husband, Leon Salisbury, preceded her in death August 29, 2005. They were married March 12, 1940. Mrs. Salisbury was born January 28, 1920 in Rainsboro, Ohio, daughter of the late Elmer and Bessie Ione Troth Cook. She was a graduate of McClain High School in Greenfield, Ohio.
Mrs. Salisbury was a purchasing agent for Wells Manufacturing in New Vienna. She was a longtime member of the New Vienna United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Gideon’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Salisbury is survived by five sons, Bob (Betty) Salisbury of Batavia, Ohio, Tom (Emily) Salisbury of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Charles (Susan) Salisbury of Wilmington, Ohio, John F. (Catholyn “Giz”) Salisbury of Pataskala, Ohio, and Ron (Kathy) Salisbury of West Union, Ohio; a daughter, Carol Webster of Sharonville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Cook of Hillsboro, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Gerald “Dale” Bailey of Hillsboro, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece. In addition to her husband and parents, a brother, Ellsworth Cook, and a sister, Elsie “Kate” Bailey, and a nephew, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the L. Eugene Smith & Son Funeral Home, 64 S. South Street, New Vienna, Ohio with Rev. Mike Barthel officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Leesburg, Ohio. Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the L. Eugene Smith & Son Funeral Home.
