Gilbert Robinson Jr., 89, of Wilmington, Ohio died 4:14 AM, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. His wife, Jessie “Joanna” Robinson, preceded him in death September 30, 2004. They were married September 4, 1948. Mr. Robinson was born June 19, 1924 in Sabina, Ohio, son of the late Gilbert Robinson Sr. and Marjorie Smith Lewis. He was a graduate of Sabina High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Robinson retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E., but attended Bible Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mr. Robinson is survived by two sons, Jackie (Cathy) Robinson of Wilmington, Ohio and Frankie Robinson of Richmond, Virginia; four daughters, Deborah Flemming of Columbus, Ohio, Bobbie (Donald) Howard of Wilmington, Ohio, Virginia Galloway of Dayton, Ohio, and Norma Tyler of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Kennard (Wanda) Lewis of Columbus, Ohio; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a special friend, Catherine Lewis. In addition to his wife and parents, a daughter, Marjorie Jean Curtis, a brother, Noel Robinson, a sister, Dora Bush, and three grandchildren, Anthony Dixon, Royce Robinson, and Abraham Knaff, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 243 Grant Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Dr. Kurtis L. Summerville officiating. Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.
