James C. White, 81, of New Vienna, Ohio died 11:20 PM, Saturday, July 28, 2012 at his residence. His wife, Pat White, survives. Mr. White was born March 18, 1931 in Lexington, Kentucky, son of the late James White and Mona B. Walsh Masters.
Mr. White retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 21 years in the U.S. Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a heating and air conditioning technician for Sears, taught at Scarlet Oaks, managed a retirement home, and was a truck driver for Werner Enterprises and Sewell Motor Express. He was a member of the New Vienna United Methodist Church. An avid pool player, Mr. White played regularly at the Wilmington, Hillsboro, Washington Court House, and New Vienna Senior Centers. He also loved ballroom dancing.
In addition to his wife, Mr. White is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Jim) Benedict of Pelham, Alabama, Sandra (Larry) Street of Columbus, Ohio, and Sonia (Rick) Morris of New Vienna, Ohio; a sister, Frankie Turner of Marion, Kansas; a granddaughter, Lisa (Jim) Long of Columbus, Ohio; and a great grandchild, Sydney Long. In addition to his parents, a sister, Clare Edith Maxson, is preceded in death.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, August 6, 2012 at the L. Eugene Smith & Son Funeral Home, 64 S. South Street, New Vienna, Ohio. Friends may call from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Monday, August 6, 2012 at the L. Eugene Smith & Son Funeral Home.
