Martha Louise Starbuck Peterson, 82, went home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, May 3 , 2011, at her beautiful home on Mills Road where she enjoyed her flowers, butterflies, and birds and was surrounded by her many pictures and memories of friends and family. Her beloved husband of 52 years, Paul K. Peterson, preceded her in death August 27, 2005.
Mrs. Peterson was born March 29, 1929, on a farm north of Wilmington, Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Luther and Gladys Oglesbee Starbuck. She grew up on a farm near Kingman where she went to school and then she graduated from Wilmington College. She taught elementary school at Mt. Pleasant, Kingman, Harveyburg, and Clinton Massie for 32 years. She loved her music and crafts, but was especially proud of her family history she treasured and maintained.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by two sons, Dennis ( Patricia) Peterson of Dearborn, Missouri and Shaun Peterson of Wilmington, Ohio; a very special, loving sister Margaret Prickett; three granddaughters, Kendra ( Scott) Schwartz, Alysa Peterson, and Ellen Peterson; a stepson, J.D. McGee; two daughters-in-law, Chris Peterson and Tami Peterson; and several doting nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives. In addition to her husband and parents, a son, Mark L. Peterson, is preceded in death.
She will also be sorely missed by the relatives, neighbors, classmates, and students, whose lives she has touched over the many years. She will be especially very missed by her loving dog, Rosie.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
