Michael V. Lewis, 63, of Wilmington, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior 10:23 AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Bethesda Medical Center – Arrow Springs, Lebanon, Ohio. His wife, Pamela Gallimore Lewis, whom he married July 20, 1968, survives. Mr. Lewis was born May 9, 1948 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of Pauline Biggs Lewis of Wilmington, Ohio and the late Vernon Lewis. He served with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne during Vietnam.
Mr. Lewis retired after 30 years with GTE. He then worked at MCI and JCR. He was currently employed by American Showa. He was a member of the First Church of God, where he was a longtime Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and genealogy. He would also give lectures on Vietnam and Indian heritage and artifacts. He loved his grandchildren most of all though. He was an organ donor and a great Christian man.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Lewis is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Scott) Rolf of Springfield, Ohio and Maria Lewis Hart of Clarksville, Ohio; a brother, Randy (Cheryl) Lewis of Wilmington, Ohio; two sisters, Kandy (Bob) Brown of Wilmington, Ohio and Kris (Kenny) Arnold of Washington Court House, Ohio; five grandchildren, Hannah Rolf, Preslee Rolf, Cheyenne Hart, Lakota Hart, and Braden Rolf; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Teresa and Gerald Moberly; as well as several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, a sister-in-law, Angie Gallimore, a brother-in-law, Gary Browning, and a nephew, Bo Moberly, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the First Church of God, 200 A Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Larry Speelman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Greene County, Ohio. Friends may call from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the First Church of God. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton County Veteran’s Memorial, P.O. Box 16, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
