Noel O. Batten, 87, of Wilmington, Ohio died 11:42 AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation Residence. His wife, Bernice L. Stephan Batten, survives. They were married in 1948. Mr. Batten was born December 18, 1924, in Greenville, Ohio, son of the late Noel O. Batten Sr. and Faye Westfall Batten. He graduated from Greenville High School and attended Miami University. He served four years in the U.S. Naval Air Force.
For almost 30 years, he owned and operated Batten’s Auto Electric in Wilmington. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Washington Court House.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Batten is survived by two sons, Gary (Marjorie) Batten of Lebanon, Ohio, and Gregg (Teri) Batten of Wilmington, Ohio; three brothers, Claude of Kansas, Richard of Missouri and Lowell of Miamisburg, Ohio; a sister, Karen Oswalt; and three grandchildren, Paul of Waynesville, Ohio, Ashley of Wilmington, Ohio, and Eric (Jessie) of Dayton, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Mr. Batten was preceded in death by an infant brother; and two sisters, Wanda Batten and Alberta Cozad.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with John O’Dell officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
