Peter Tikva, 86, of Wilmington, Ohio died 1:35 PM, Friday, June 3, 2011 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Tikva was born October 8, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Adam and Mary Tikva. Mr. Tikva retired from the Ohio Air National Guard. He worked at the Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base with the 160th Air Refilling Group. During his 32 year military career, he was also in the U. S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 49. Mr. Tikva is survived by a stepdaughter, Brenda (Bob) Decker of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Sister Mary W. Tikva of Joliet, Illinois; a daughter, Kelly Martin of Hillsboro, Ohio; three step-grandchildren, Deborah (David) Cox of Wilmington, Ohio, Michael (Kathy) Decker of Wilmington, Ohio, and Donna Decker of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Cheyenne Martin and Chris Martin; four step great grandchildren, Ryan Thompson, Elizabeth Cox, Kelly Decker, and Kristina Decker; his special friend and long time companion, Carrie Purtee; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Stanley Tikva and Steve Tikva, and two sisters, Catherine Jerome and Dorothy Kolarich, are preceded in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. James M. Wedig officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 49 Memorial Squad. Friends may call from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Columbkille Catholic Church Ladies Sodality, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
