Phoebe L. Williams, 72, of Wilmington, Ohio died 1:04 PM, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Clinton Memorial Hospital after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Ms. Williams was born March 14, 1939 in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of the late Sylvester B. and Rayma A. Medley Arrington.
Ms. Williams retired from Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. She attended Bible Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington. She was known for saying “I have cancer, but cancer does not have me.”
Ms. Williams is survived by a son, Kevin Arrington of Victorville, California; five daughters, Debbie (Mychal) Turner of Washington Court House, Ohio, Sylvia Arrington of Bakersfield, California, Dereasa (Ronald) Jennings of Columbus, Ohio, Marcelle (Dennis) Vezina of Wilmington, Ohio, and Narda Williams of Wilmington, Ohio; five sisters, Hazel Cowin of Wilmington, Ohio, Audrey Young of West Carrollton, Ohio, Cheryl (Horace) White of Wilmington, Ohio, Karen (Kenneth) Dean of Wilmington, Ohio, and Deborah Howard of Battle Creek, Michigan; 19 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and her special friends, Barbara Bart, Lorenzo Hunter, Virginia Arrington, and Floyd Banks. In addition to her parents, a daughter, Cynthia Ann Bates, two brothers, Marvin Eugene Frisco Jr. and Kenneth Leroy Arrington Sr., and four sisters, Sandra Arrington, Jean Ann Arrington, Pauline Arrington, and Bernice Wallace, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Dr. Kurtis L. Summerville officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
