Richard Miles, 59, of Maineville, Ohio died 4:45 PM, Monday, February 4, 2013 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Julie Stilson Miles, survives. They were married September 26, 1992. Mr. Miles was born April 1, 1953 in Sinton, Texas, son of the late Douglas and Suzanne Curtis Miles. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He also served in the Army National Guard after 9/11. Mr. Miles had been a welder for most of his life. He was also a truck driver. He attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Maineville. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying history, especially the Civil War. He also liked to build model ships. Most importantly, however, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Miles is survived by children, Richard Miles II of Virginia, Todd (Brenda) Oliver of Columbus, Ohio, Heather Freytag of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Christopher (Wendy) Oliver of Columbia, Kentucky; two brothers, Lee Miles of Tacoma, Washington and Kurt Miles of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Sue Dyson of Tucson, Arizona and Jean Slagel of Tucson, Arizona; and grandchildren, Isabella Askins, Victor Oliver, Dawson Oliver, Samantha Oliver, and Patrick Oliver. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Douglas Miles II and Teddy Miles, are preceded in death. Funeral services will be 2:30 PM, Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Mike Rhodehamel officiating.
