Shirley Mae Rhoads Quigley, 69, of Martinsville, Ohio went to be with our Heavenly Father 5:35 AM, Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at her residence in the arms of her loving husband and surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Larry Eugene Quigley. They were married September 5, 1960 at the Morrisville Methodist Church. Mrs. Quigley was born March 13, 1942 in Sinking Springs, Highland County, Ohio, daughter of the late Hershel and Ada Gustin Rhoads. She was a 1960 graduate of Martinsville High School and was the 1959 Homecoming Queen.
Mrs. Quigley was a stay at home mom where she babysat for many local children for 16 years. She then went to work outside of the home starting at Continental Manor Nursing Home in Blanchester for two and a half years. She then worked at Clinton Memorial Hospital in environmental services for 16 years. She retired from Clinton Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wilmington, the Martinsville High School Alumni Association, and a longtime member of the Martinsville Mother’s Club.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Quigley is survived by two sons, Jerry Dale (Sandy) Quigley of Martinsville, Ohio and James Darin (Mary) Quigley of Blanchester, Ohio; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Quigley Lucia of Wapakoneta, Ohio; two brothers, Eugene (Jeanette) Rhoads of Martinsville, Ohio and Robert (Venita) Rhoads of Wilmington, Ohio; six sisters, Sarah (Richard) Speaight of Kansas City, Missouri, Peggy (Eldon) Speaight of Wilmington, Ohio, Sharon (Rick) Adams of Morrow, Ohio, Sandy (Sam) Homer of Lebanon, Ohio, Brenda (Mike) Mobley of Blanchester, Ohio, and Debbie (Brian) Napier of Blanchester, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Amanda Jo Quigley, Jerrod Michael Quigley, Elizabeth Marie Poppaw, Emily Megan Poppaw, Bradley Thomas Lucia, Jonathan Tyler Lucia, Luke Vyacheslav Quigley, Isaac Fyodor Quigley, and Naomi Anastacia Quigley; three great grandchildren, Trevor John “TJ” Drake, Destinee Marie Drake, and Addison Sylvia Deemer; a brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Gall of Hillsboro, Ohio; Collin and Abby Green, who she considered to be her special grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, three brothers, Harold Rhoads, Richard Rhoads, and Ray Rhoads, two sisters, Lucille Roads and Martha Gall, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Oleta Reveal Quigley, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1920 U.S. 22 West, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Dennis Humphreys officiating. Burial will be in Martinsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, July 8, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church.
