William “Bill” Markle, 77, of Wilmington, Ohio died 5:40 AM, Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his residence. His wife, Sue A. Markle, whom he married July 17, 1965, survives. Mr. Markle was born June 3, 1933 in Chanute, Kansas, son of the late Bruce H. and Willie Ruth Johnson Markle. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Emporia State College in Emporia, Kansas.
Mr. Markle worked for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Mosaco in Wilmington, and for R&L Transfer in Wilmington. He retired from R&L. He was a member of the Wilmington Lions Club and served as the treasurer for 24 years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Markle is survived by two sons, Todd C. (Erin) Markle of Los Angeles, California and Jason A. (Andrea) Markle of Los Angeles, California; his twin brother, Bruce M. (Marilyn) Markle of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a sister, Beverly Holst of Chadron Nebraska; two grandchildren, Zoe E. Muse-Markle of Los Angeles, California and Logan C. Markle of Los Angeles, California; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Kay Cameron of Pataskala, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Sally Rowell of Wilmington, Ohio; long time friends, Bob and Lela Zickafoose of Kansas City, Kansas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Friday, March 11, 2011 at the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ, 120 Columbus Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Tom Stephenson officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 49 Memorial Squad. Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Friday, March 11, 2001 at the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ.
