A. Glen McNeeley died in his home on May 28, 2012 in the late afternoon after a protracted battle with cancer. He was 77 years old and is survived by his wife, Joyce McNeeley, and his children, Todd McNeeley and Kimberly McNeeley.
He was born in Wabash, Indiana in 1934 to Mary McNeeley, and was raised by Mary and his stepfather Marlin Colbert, who both precede him in death.
Mr. McNeeley was retired from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department where he served as a Deputy Sheriff. He also served many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Wilmington Fire Department.
During his lifetime, he ran several businesses, including Van’s Dairy Crest, and Smokey Bear Enterprises which offered home security systems. In his civic life he was an avid Ham Radio enthusiast who trained for emergency response in conjunction with the National Weather Service station in Wilmington. He also served many years as a leader in Scouting. He was an adult leader for Troop 154 and later served as a commissioner in the Robert E. Hadley District.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Kelly D. McInerney officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
