Donald S. Canby, 80, of Wilmington, Ohio died 9:50 PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Ohio Veteran’s Home, Georgetown, Ohio. His wife, Dee Ann Canby, preceded him in death July 25, 2009. They were married June 2, 1962. Mr. Canby was born February 20, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Robert and Margaret Hubbard Canby. He served in U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Canby had worked as an electronics troubleshooter for various companies. He was an active ham radio operator and had served as a storm chaser. He had been a volunteer firefighter for Chester Township Fire Dept. and a volunteer at Greene Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Canby is survived by three sons, Stephen (Diane) Canby of Clarksville, Ohio, Geoffrey (Tonya) Canby of Wilmington, Ohio, and Michael R. (Amber) Canby of Wilmington, Ohio; a daughter, Julie (Andy) Woods of Leesburg, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, an infant daughter, and two sisters, are preceded in death.
A graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton at the convenience of the family.
