Fannie Jane Slaughter, 85, of Wilmington, Ohio died 6:25 AM, Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. She was born April 18, 1927 in Pennsylvania, daughter of the late S. Oakley Leyda and Hazel Blanche Armbruster Leyda.
Ms. Slaughter was a longtime bus driver for the Wilmington City Schools and the Nike Center. She also worked in the cafeteria of the Wilmington City Schools. She attended the Cuba Friends Meeting in Cuba, Ohio.
She is survived by her children, David Forrest Slaughter of Knoxville, Tennessee, Patricia Lynn Slaughter of Laporte, Colorado, June Carol (Dennis) Walker of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Donna Jean (David “Mike”) Conn of Lebanon, Ohio; five grandchildren, Erin Stacey, Sheri Stacey, Trevor (Micaela) Walker, Tyler (Nicole) Walker, and Tara (Barry) Pendell; two great grandchildren, Bryson Walker and Connor Walker; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry Leyda, Clarence Leyda, and Harold Leyda, and a sister, Irma Jean Griffith.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, Pennsylvania. Burial will be in Maple Creek Cemetery, Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Friends may call from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Cuba Friends Meeting, Cuba, Ohio with Doug Haag and Francis Parks officiating. A time of fellowship will be held following the memorial service.
