G. Phillip “Phil” Pidgeon, 67, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away 1:25 PM, Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio surrounded by family and friends. His wife of 45 years, Janie Hildebrant Pidgeon, survives. They were married August 27, 1967. Mr. Pidgeon was born April 15, 1945 at the Hale Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio, son of the late Leonard W. and Thelma Gumley Pidgeon. He was a 1963 graduate of Wilmington High School, where he served as the class treasurer, was captain of the basketball team, and was a member of Phi Delta Sigma.
Mr. Pidgeon retired from General Motors in 1995 after 30 years. He enjoyed carpentry, lawn and garden work, vacations, and his home and family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Pidgeon is survived by a son, Kyle Phillip Pidgeon; a brother, Darrell Pidgeon; two sisters-in-law, Joyce H. Inwood and Ann Pidgeon; a brother-in-law, David L. Hildebrant; five nieces, Jana Welch, Lannae Green, Jeanine Mullenix, Marla Pidgeon, and Donella Hildebrant; and five nephews, Andrew Pidgeon, John Welch, Brian Hildebrant, Mark Green, and Scott Mullenix. In addition to his parents, his mother-in-law, Virginia Hildebrant, and a brother-in-law, C. David Inwood, are preceded in death.
A graveside service for all friends and family will be held 2:30 PM, Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Sugar Grove Cemetery, W. Truesdell Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Tom Stephenson officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a celebration of Phil’s life at the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ, 120 Columbus St., Wilmington, Ohio immediately after the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ, 120 Columbus Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
