Georgiana Thomas, 84, of Wilmington, Ohio died 3:05 PM, Monday, January 24, 2011 at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence. Her husband, William A. Thomas, preceded her in death. Mrs. Thomas was born May 7, 1926 in Fayette Missouri, daughter of the late Wilbur and Olivia Bush Jackson. Mrs. Thomas retired from Polly Flinders in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1986. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, where she had served as elder and deacon. She was a member and past president of Church Women United. Mrs. Thomas volunteered her time in many community organizations including the Soup Kitchen at the Friends Church, Your Father's Kitchen, and Clothing Cupboard. She was a past recipient of the Outstanding Woman of the Year award. Mrs. Thomas is survived by a son, Charles M. Jackson of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ranson of Xenia, Ohio; her aunt, Harriet Bush of Stockton, California; seven step grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, a daughter-in-law, Esther Jackson, two brothers, and one sister, are preceded in death. A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. David F. Judd officiating. A memorial service will then be held 10:00 AM, Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, 840 Timber Glen Drive, Wilmington, Ohio. A luncheon in remembrance of Mrs. Thomas will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, 840 Timber Glen Drive, Wilmington, Ohio 45177 or to Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County Box 764, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
