John Hugh Bolton, 74, of Wilmington, Ohio died 12:02 PM, Friday, March 16, 2012. His wife, Joyce Kay Woods Whitenack Bolton, whom he married May 24, 1980, survives. Mr. Bolton was born August 13, 1937 in Prentiss County, Mississippi, son of the late Hershel Lloyd Bolton and Beulah Newman Bolton.
Early in life, Mr. Bolton worked on riverboats on the Mississippi River. He started driving trucks at the age of 17. Over the course of his career, Mr. Bolton worked for Buckeye Molding, Alcoa, and eventually retired from Packaging Resources. After retirement he worked at ABX. He was currently employed by Airborne Maintenance and Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army as well as several years in the National Guard. During his military service he served on the marksman team and received numerous marksman awards. He was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bolton is survived by two daughters, Stephanie (Juan) Villavaces of Athens, Georgia and Mary Helen (James III) Copeland of Atlanta, Georgia; two stepchildren, Kimberly Whitenack (Darby) Beekman of Peebles, Ohio and Richard (Debbie) Whitenack of Hillsboro, Ohio; a brother, Sidney Newman Bolton of Tampa, Florida; ten grandchildren, Cecilia Villavaces, Juan Villavaces, Lilli Villavaces, Alvaro Villavaces, James Copeland IV, Ian Copeland, Kaylee Beekman, Joshua Beekman, Ashley (Bruce) Bennett, and Storm Brown; four great grandchildren, Cody Bennett, Riley Bennett, Marley Bennett, and Joseph Bennett; two nephews, Butch Bolton and Lamar Bolton; several great nieces and great nephews; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to his parents, a brother, Hershel Lloyd Bolton Jr., a grandchild, Nathan Whitenack, a great niece, Carrie Self, and the mother of his children, Patsy Clements Bolton, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. Darby Beekman officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, Pike County, Ohio. Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
