Lydia A. Shanahan Gwinn, 90, of Middletown, Ohio (formerly of Franklin, Ohio) went to be with the Lord 3:14 PM, Friday, October 21, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Atrium Medical Center, Middletown, Ohio. She is survived by her second husband, Loma Gwinn. Her first husband, James Boyd Shanahan Sr., preceded her in death March 6, 1994. She was born June 1, 1921 in Caryville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Tom and Gracie Brock Daugherty. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Middletown, Ohio.
In addition to her second husband, she is survived by a son, Jimmy (Carol) Shanahan of Springboro, Ohio; three daughters, Judy Vess (Jack) Salley of Franklin, Ohio, Linda (Wayne) McCamey of Morristown, Tennessee, and Pam Shanahan (Johny) Tussey of Franklin, Ohio; a sister, Edna Holdren of Roanoke, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Sheri (Bo) Miller of Franklin, Ohio, Staci (Yanko) Krafka of Springboro, Ohio, Stephani Maddox of Springboro, Ohio, Jeff (Bobbi) Vess of Prince Frederick, Maryland, Jennifer Webb of Zionsville, Indiana, Kim (Eric) Hankins of Afton, Tennessee, Amanda McCamey of Morristown, Tennessee, Niki (Shane) Smith of Wilmington, Ohio, and Carrie (Brian) Tussey of Franklin, Ohio; 21 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two stepchildren, Keith (Betty) Gwinn of Colorado and Brenda (Roger) Green of Franklin, Ohio; as well as numerous step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren. In addition to her first husband and parents, a sister, Lucille Perkins, and a granddaughter, Lori McCamey Sponcia, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second Street, Franklin, Ohio under the direction of Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 and from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the funeral home in Franklin.
