Marilyn Rose Ferguson, 81, of Martinsville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord May 15, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Marilyn was born June 27, 1936 in Martinsville, Ohio. She was the beloved daughter of the late Everett and Imogene Bosier Miller. She married David F. Ferguson December 28, 1963 in Wilmington. They were married 32 years until he preceded her in death in 1995.
Marilyn was a 1956 graduate of Martinsville High School. She was a homemaker but had worked at a nursing home years ago. She attended Church of Christ and Christian Union for many years and Midland Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, taught Vacation Bible School, was a second elder, sung in the choir, and was a prayer warrior.
Her biggest joy in life was spending time with family. She loved them with all of her heart. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds, collecting angels and porcelain dolls, gardening, and working with her flowers.
Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her daughter, Dianna (John) Stanforth of Martinsville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tereasa (Jason) Geyer, Tim (Emilee) Scarberry, and Matt (Amber) Scarberry; her great grandchildren, Devin Scarberry, Dylan Dummitt, Justin Scarberry, Rylea Scarberry, Karrson Scarberry, Khloee Scarberry, Kyndall Scarberry, Michael Scarberry, Mason Scarberry, Madison Scarberry, and a great grandson she always thought about. She is also survived by a brother, Bud Miller of Martinsville, Ohio; a sister, Joan Miller of Martinsville, Ohio; and a special niece, Sharon (Harold) Leasher of Midland, Ohio.
In addition to her husband and parents, four brothers, Gail Miller, Wayne Miller, Donnie Miller, and Richard Miller, four sisters, Martha Stewart, Betty Ramey, Mary “Katie” Miller, and Eleanor McCoy, a niece, Rhonda Ramey, a great nephew, Mark Leasher, a great-great nephew, Dwayne Scarberry, and her childhood friend, Helen Hess, are preceded in death.
On angels wings you were taken. In God’s light you will rest, but in our hearts, you’ll stay. Loved and cherished forever, until we meet again.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Bill Crowe officiating. Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens. The family will receive guests for visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
