Pamela Jean Maggard Mendez, 54, of Clarksville, Ohio went home to be with her Lord Sunday, May 6, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Her devoted husband, Rigo O. Mendez, survives. They were married September 20, 1982. She was born January 15, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of June Wendt Maggard of London, Kentucky and the late Ralph Maggard. She was a 1976 graduate of Clinton Massie High School. She received her nursing degree from Eastern Kentucky University.
Mrs. Mendez, a registered nurse, worked at several hospitals and home health care agencies. She was also the nurse manager at the Wilmington Dialysis, now called Davita, for seven years. She was currently working in the Emergency Room and Trauma Unit at Miami Valley Hospital. Pam was a very caring nurse who had so much love and compassion for her patients.
She was a wonderful Christian lady and a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington for 16 years. She loved to sing in the choir and was involved in a lady’s quartet for many years. She also sang many solos. One of her favorite songs was “People need the Lord.” Everyone would always seem to gravitate toward her. She was much loved and appreciated for all the advice and help that she bestowed upon everyone. Pam’s beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Mendez is survived by three sons, Nicholas (Andrea) Maggard of Newport, Kentucky, Nathan (Jennifer) Mendez of Morrow, Ohio, and Jaime Mendez of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Chuck (Beth) Maggard of London, Kentucky; three sisters, Debbie Pinnock of Loveland, Ohio, Becky (Steve) Raines of Wilmington, Ohio, and Polly (J.R.) Smith of London, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Ariel Mendez, Ashton Mendez, Quincy Maggard, and Jaiden Maggard; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Miriam Cardinale, Sulma Derbyshire, Lucilla Damers, John Mendez, Oscar Mendez, and George Mendez; several nieces and nephews; her half sisters and half brothers; her great aunts and great uncles; as well as many cousins.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington, 55 Megan Drive, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Kelly D. McInerney officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio. Friends may call from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington.
