Phyllis Joanne Minzler, 81, of New Vienna, Ohio was called home 5:40 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital surrounded by her family. Her husband, Raymond Minzler, whom she married June 19, 1949, survives. Mrs. Minzler was born March 5, 1930 in Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Delmar and Ruth Walls Young. She was a 1948 graduate of Wayne Township High School and attended Wilmington College.
Mrs. Minzler had been employed at the Marathon Oil Company for many years and was the co-owner of both Minzler’s Market and P&R Flowers all of which were located in New Vienna. She also worked several years for, and retired from Universal One Credit Union in Hillsboro and Dayton. She was a lifelong member of the New Vienna Church of Christ. She loved playing the piano and organ and enjoyed playing at the church for 60 years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Minzler is survived by four children, Robyn Griffith of New Vienna, Ohio, Randy (Jane) Minzler of Jeffersonville, Ohio, Gary (Vicki) Minzler of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Mary Beth (Brad) Corcoran of New Vienna, Ohio; a brother, David (Linda) Young of New Vienna, Ohio; her grandchildren, whom she adored, Chris (Beth) Minzler, Josh (Jennifer) Minzler, Ashley Griffith, Devan Corcoran, Bailey Corcoran, Dylan Rhodes, and Megan Rhodes; her great grandchildren, whom she was blessed with, Kate Oesterle, Addison Minzler, Chase Minzler, and one on the way that she will be watching over; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents a son-in-law, Jack Griffith, and an infant sister, Audrey Clarene Young, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, April 22, 2011 at the New Vienna Church of Christ, 148 West Street, New Vienna, Ohio with Brad Clouse officiating. Burial will be in New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the New Vienna Church of Christ.
