Wesley Burdette Goings, 73, of Hillsboro, Ohio (formerly of Wilmington, Ohio) passed away at his home 7:55 AM, Saturday, December 8, 2012. Wesley was born August 15, 1939 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of the late Forest E. and Virginia Banks Goings. Wesley graduated from Wilmington High School in 1957. As a youth, Wesley attended Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Wesley worked as a painter for many years in the Wilmington area. He then moved to Latty, Ohio. While living there, he had several jobs before moving to Defiance, Ohio where he worked for the Defiance Sheriff’s Department.
Wesley loved fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed writing poems and drawing.
Mr. Goings is survived by a daughter, Karrie; a grandson, Jeffrey of Springfield, Ohio; a brother, Forest “Sonny” (Janet) Goings of Wilmington, Ohio; four sisters, Mary Anna Jackson of Wilmington, Ohio, Cherie Williams of Wilmington, Ohio, Fanny (Curt) Gilbert of Wilmington, Ohio, and Virginia Kate (Craig) Reeder of Wilmington, Ohio; a very special long-time friend, Martha Fetters; a long-time from childhood friend, Jerry Brannon; his little dog, Buddy; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Wesley was preceded in death by his stepfather, Horace Dan Scott; and a brother-in-law, Richard Williams.
At his request, Wesley will be cremated. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, 50 N. Lincoln Street, Wilmington, Ohio.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati, I.C.U. Department as well as the nurses and doctors from Hospice of Hope. They were very supportive and caring to the very end, especially Vicki, Debbie, Dana, and aides Nae and Kay.
