Donald T. Berry, 80, of Wilmington, Ohio (formerly of Austin, Kentucky) died 9:35 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Quaker Heights Care Community, Waynesville, Ohio. His wife, Joyce Mussetter Berry, survives. They were married November 19, 1966. Mr. Berry, also known as “Mr. Kentucky” and “The Colonel,” was born January 20, 1933 in Barren County, Kentucky, son of the late Truman and Nola Russell Berry. He was a graduate of Austin Tracy High School in Kentucky.
Mr. Berry had worked at Sunshine Biscuit, NCR, IBM, and T.J. Sampson Hospital. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Wilmington, Ohio and a former member of Union Baptist Church in Fountain Run, Kentucky. He was an avid U.K. fan, a Kentucky Colonel, and member of the F&AM. He served on the Committee of 101.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Berry is survived by a grandson, Robert (Elizabeth) Houk III of Franklin, Ohio; a great grandchild, Heidi Lynn Houk; two sisters-in-law, Judith Howard and Kay Reveal; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a daughter, Patricia Lynn Rymoff, a brother, Leon Berry, and two sisters-in-law, Jerri Berry and Jean Bagford, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington, 55 Megan Drive, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Kelly D. McInerney officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington and from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Union Baptist Church in Fountain Run, Kentucky. A graveside service will be held at Union Church Cemetery, Fountain Run, Kentucky on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
