Miriam A. Collins, 95, of Wilmington, Ohio died 8:00 AM, Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence. Her husband, George O. Collins, preceded her in death June 27, 1984. They were married January 21, 1939. Mrs. Collins was born July 22, 1918 in Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late William H. “Bill” Snyder and Marie Pobst Snyder. She was a 1936 graduate of Jefferson High School.
Mrs. Collins retired from Wilmington High School in 1983 where she worked as a cook. She was a member of the Praise and Worship Center in Lebanon, Ohio, the Wilmington Savings Senior Citizens Center in Wilmington, and the SERD School Retirement.
Mrs. Collins is survived by three sons, Roger (Cathy Beckett) Collins of Wilmington, Ohio, Larry (Jackie Cunningham) Collins of Morrow, Ohio, and Mark Collins of Wilmington, Ohio; a daughter, Rheada (Mike) Brown of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Doris Jean Smart of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Doris Snyder of Wilmington, Ohio; six grandchildren, Mindy (Randy) Pinkerton, Michele Stewart, Kim Collins, Amy (Darrell) Jernigan, Todd (Stephanie) Collins, and Chad (Susie) Collins; 11 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard “Dick” Snyder, Estel & Marianna Snyder, and a brother-in-law, Russell Smart, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. Lindsey Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
