Raymond Charles Minzler, 89, of New Vienna, Ohio was called home Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at his residence with his daughter and granddaughter by his side. His wife, Phyllis Young Minzler, preceded him in death April 16, 2011. They were married June 19, 1949. Mr. Minzler was born September 21, 1922 in Clinton County, Ohio, son of the late Andrew and Mary Cassidy Minzler.
He worked several years for Cincinnati Milacron and Hobart. He was co-owner of Minzler’s Market with his wife. He had also worked for L. Eugene Smith & Son Funeral Home in New Vienna. He was a lifelong member of the New Vienna Church of Christ, where he was a Sunday school teacher, and served many years as a deacon and elder. He was a very faithful servant of the Lord.
Mr. Minzler is survived by four children, Robyn Griffith of New Vienna, Ohio, Randy (Jane) Minzler of Jeffersonville, Ohio, Gary (Vicki) Minzler of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Mary Beth (Brad) Corcoran of New Vienna, Ohio; six grandchildren, Chris (Beth) Minzler of Washington Court House, Ohio, Josh (Jennifer) Minzler of Leesburg, Ohio, Ashley Griffith of New Vienna, Ohio, Devan Corcoran of New Vienna, Ohio, Bailey Corcoran of New Vienna, Ohio, and Dylan Rhodes of Hillsboro, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Kate Oesterle, Zach Minzler, Addison Minzler, and Chase Minzler; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, a son-in-law, Jack Griffith, four sisters, Rose Ellen Young, Ruth Young, Reta Cochran, and Betty Lee Henthorn, three brothers, Henry Minzler, Dale Minzler, and Oris Minzler, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Delmar Young, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 21, 2012 at the New Vienna Church of Christ, 148 West Street, New Vienna, Ohio with Brad Clouse officiating. Burial will be in New Vienna Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the New Vienna Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the New Vienna Church of Christ.
