Roberta Margaret Copenhaver, 89, of Cincinnati, Ohio (formerly of Wilmington, Ohio) went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 20, 2013. Her husband, Rev. J. Kenneth Copenhaver, survives. They were married August 21, 1948. Mrs. Copenhaver was born August 12, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late William Strauss Cooper and Anna Barbara Huners Cooper. She attended Eastern Nazarene University and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Copenhaver had dreams of becoming a concert pianist, but instead chose to become a pastor’s wife. She played the organ and piano in numerous churches throughout her husband’s ministry. She was also a longtime Sunday school teacher. After she and her husband retired from ministry, she worked at McDonalds for 15 years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Copenhaver is survived by two sons, Jeff (Joyce) Copenhaver of Chino Valley, Arizona and Kevin Copenhaver of Denver, Colorado; three daughters, Cheryl Copenhaver of Mason, Ohio, Ruth Anne (Danny) Flint of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Karen (Tom) Jackson of Xenia, Ohio; a sister, Anne Grant of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Doug (Katy) Copenhaver of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Andre (Sarah) Flint of Winchester, Ohio, Zia Sohrabian of Champagne, Illinois, Ephraim Flint of Hillsboro, Ohio, Amanda Copenhaver of San Antonio, Texas, Zina Sohrabian of Austin, Texas, Meagan (Eric) Miller of Fairborn, Ohio, Noah Flint of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gideon Jackson of Xenia, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Allyson Miller, Emily Miller, and Colston Flint; a brother-in-law, James (Phyllis) Copenhaver of Summersville, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Dorry Cooper of Fredericksburg, Virginia; family friend, Kyle Kastner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. In addition to her parents, a brother, George H.V. Cooper, is preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene, 2193 State Route 73 West, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. David Orner officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene.
