Shirley Jean Achor Smalley, 78, a resident of Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence for the past nine years and a former resident of New Vienna, Ohio died 5:40 AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence. She was born March 28, 1935 in Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Wilbur E. Achor and Marcille “Sib” Curtis Achor.
She retired from Buckeye Molding in New Vienna. She had also worked for Wells Manufacturing. She was a member of the New Vienna Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
She is survived by her four children, Jenny (Gary) Slagle of Wilmington, Ohio, Ron (Norma) Smalley of New Vienna, Ohio, Mindy (Darrell) Baird of Wilmington, Ohio, and Suzanne (Dan) Novak of Corral Springs, Florida; her one and only, precious grandchild, Briana Jean Baird; three step-grandchildren, Jason Slagle, Melissa Chestnut, and Matt Novak; and two step-great-grandchildren, Cheyra and Scottie. In addition to her parents, a brother, John “Buck” Achor, is preceded in death.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the New Vienna Church of Christ, 148 West Street, New Vienna, Ohio. Burial will be in Martinsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the New Vienna Church of Christ.
