Virginia C. “Granny” Brown, 88, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away peacefully 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at her home. Her husband, Robert W. Brown, preceded her in death June 2, 2005. They were married August 31, 1946. Mrs. Brown was born June 15, 1925 in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of the late Hank and Hazel Collins LaChance. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School.
Mrs. Brown worked at Randall Textron for 23 years, where she was affectionately known as “Granny.” She had been a member of the New Vienna and Martinsville Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a son, Roy W. Brown of Wilmington, Ohio; two daughters, Carolyne M. Brown of Wilmington, Ohio and Robyn Maple (Bob) Vilvens of Wilmington, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Erin) Maple Sr. of Xenia, Ohio, Elizabeth “Betsey” (Jesse) Green of Sardinia, Ohio, Jacquie Baca of Wilmington, Ohio, William Brown of Springfield, Ohio, Nathan Brown of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Dawn Brown of Wilmington, Ohio, and Justin Shuppert of Xenia, Ohio; 14 great grandchildren, Austin Maple, Brady Maple, Josh Warrell, Madyson Warrell, Christopher Maple Jr., Sissy Maple, Jacob Green, Andrew Green, Andreanna Green, Haven Baca, Landen Jones, Haley Brown, Carson Beatty, and Colton Brown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, a daughter, Cheryl Brown, two brothers, Raymond LaChance and Hank LaChance, and a sister, Joan Sanfrey, are preceded in death.
The family would especially like to thank Community Care Hospice for the care Mrs. Brown received.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Mike & Nancy McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
